Chapter 3

While Sgt. Cortez left the room he checked again whether there were really no more zombies in the room. He closed the door behind him and walked along to the right and slowly he heard noises from far and wide that seemed to come closer. He reloaded but suddenly the light came on again. "Hm, apparently there are still people here. A zombie wouldn't be able to do that.", He thought and put his flashlight away. When he looked ahead, he couldn't believe his eyes. Spider-like creatures crawled towards him. They were about the size of a fully grown dog. Cortez took a few steps back and shot one of the creatures, but it appeared that they were immune to gunfire. Out of sheer fear, Cortez shot a container that had been filled with oil or some other flammable substance. The oil spilled onto the floor and Sgt. Cortez lit a match, tossing it at the oil, which immediately began to burn. One of the spiders went too close to the fire and immediately began to burn.Now he saw the weakness of the spiders: fire. Sofert took a piece of wood and dipped it into the fire for a few seconds until it started to burn and held it in place. The fire went out after a few minutes and the spiders set off towards him. He went up to the spiders, swung the piece of wood back and forth a few times. In the process, Cortez met some spiders who were burned immediately. The remaining spiders crawled away from him, but Cortez tossed the piece of wood forward, hitting the remaining spiders.
