The beginning of the end

The sun is shining you can hear children's laughter and the rustling of the wind that sweeps through the leaves. A young man with silver hair that came down to his shoulders was sitting on a bench and smiling. A little girl runs up to him.
"Dad come play with me!"
"What do you want to play Nina?"
"I want to swing."
He gets up and goes to the swing with Nina. First he pulls Nina back, then he pushes her. Nina starts laughing full of joy.
"Father?"
"Yes, darling?"
"Why does mom always have to go?"
"Mom has to go to work, she makes sure that nothing happens to us."
"Does that mean Mom is here somewhere watching us?"
He started laughing.
"No Nina, she also takes care of the others."
"Why? Why doesn't she just take care of us?"
"Well ... because mom has to take care of others too."
Although Nina didn't understand it exactly, she said nothing more, because she enjoyed the time with her dad.
"Duuu papa?"
"Yes Nina."
"When do you have to leave us again?""I don't know, I hope not soon."
"Then just stay here."
He stopped giving her impetus and looked at Nina. When she noticed that he wasn't touching her back as usual to give her a push she turned around.
"What is papa?"
He looked up at the sky. Suddenly he began to tremble.
"No ... not here ....."

He quickly grabbed Nina's arm and ran towards a house. Seconds later, the otherwise peaceful rustle of the wind turned into a howl. People screamed as claws pierced their bodies and tore them apart. He quickly closed Nina's eyes.
"Papa what is happening here?"
But he did not answer, but kept walking. When he got to the house, he ran up to the second floor. He quickly found a key and used it to unlock the door. When he entered, he closed it behind him.
"Nina stop there!"
"But why?"
He quickly ran to a closet and unlocked it. Then he put on black armor.When he was fully dressed, green streaks glowed on his chest and shoulders. Then he armed himself. He pocketed two pistols and tied a sniper rifle behind his back. Now he took a kind of tube in his hand, but it has a curved magazine at the end. There was a trigger behind the magazine.
"Why are you pulling this on papa?"
"Nina, listen to me."
He knelt down to be on an equal footing with her.
"Do you know the bad elephant from Winnie the Pooh?"
"Yeah, he's really mean."
"Now the bad guys from my show have appeared and I have to fight them."
"Why can't you talk to them?"
"No, unfortunately that is not possible. I will bring you to safety."
"What about mom?"
"I'll get her afterwards."
He took her arm and went into the kitchen. There he pulled on a kitchen knife that was very blunt. The tiles on the floor split and a corridor appeared.
"Go through there honey, papa will follow suit with mama.""But dad I ..."
"YOU DO WHAT I TELL YOU .... please Nina do it."
"...OK.."

When she disappeared down the hall, he put the kitchen knife back. The hallway closed. Then he unlocked his grenade launcher. And looked out the window. He saw young children and adults butchered by creatures that couldn't be more different. One was small, but had blades that came out of its joint. The other was huge and had thorn-like fingers. Another was more of a huge dog with a very flat muzzle and teeth that were 2 meters long. He jumped out the window and rolled onto the floor. When the demons saw him, they ignored the other people and attacked him. He shot in front of him and used the dust as cover and registered movements behind the dust with a visor. The demons did not stop, but ran faster than before. Driven by greed for blood, they ran to their doom.When the first demon came through the cloud of dust, he saw ... ... nothing. But when he looked down, the dog-like demon saw a flashing capsule. Out of curiosity, he and the other demons went closer. Before they even realized what it was, the capsule exploded, taking all the demons with it. The young man came out from behind a pillar. His hair was carried up his face by the wind. As he brushed them off his face, he heard sirens. A police car drove up. When he took a closer look into the car, he recognized a familiar person.

"NAHIRA!"
The tires squeezed when the car came to a screeching halt. The car turned and stopped shortly before him. A young woman with reddish hair got out. When she recognized the man, she lunged at him and hugged him.
"Kaine I thought you caught you."
He put his arms around her too and pulled her closer to him.
"We don't have time now Nahira.""What kind of things are these?"
"Demons of the Nameless Fire."
"What ?! Demons? And what is Nameless Fire?"
"I'll explain everything to you later when we're with Nina."
She nodded and they both ran into the stairwell. Suddenly the wall next to Kaine collapsed and a winged beast with a scythe in hand pushed him against the wall. The beast was a good five meters tall and its legs were like hooves. His skin was fleshy and looked like it had rotten blood on it.
"NO!"
He played a grenade and stuck it on the neck of the beast. When it exploded they both fell to the ground.
"Nahira keep walking, I'll take care of this bastard."
"But..."
"No buts. Nina is waiting for you so RUN!"
She continued up the stairs and looked back one more time.

Kaine flicked his two pistols and aimed at the beast's head. Then he fired, but the beast parried his shots with its wing. Then, as he dodged a stab from the beast, he threw away his pistols and pulled a blade from his wrist.Shortly thereafter, the beast grinned. Kaine felt his heart grow very warm. Was it the love for Nina and Nahira? No, he was wounded and his blood oozed out of him. He went on his knees until he fell to the floor. Before he closed his eyes, he saw how Nina and Nahira were still standing on the stairs and the beast was walking towards them. He wanted to scream, but he couldn't. He wanted to get up but even that wasn't possible. Until he closed the eyes, every second was like a day for him.

When he suddenly woke up, he looked around. He heard engine noises and tires rolling over rubble. A female figure wrapped in black sat across from him.
"Everything okay 04?"
"Yes, everything is okay 37 .."
"Sir, you were shaking while sleeping."
"I only dreamed 89."
Everyone was silent. When 04 looked at his gun, he remembered completely.
