Chapter 4: Drabbles - Paulie

It was always about one thing. Even the shameless women of this city, as well as his friends and even Iceburg had nothing else in mind than that. That which he himself always seemed to be missing. Paulie wasn't kidding herself. He knew it couldn't be done without it, but people's greed for it made him angry. Perhaps he should give his friends his opinion on this subject, then they would surely leave him alone in the future.
When he did this, they wanted to break his knees. It was just always about the dear money.

Iceburg has always been a role model for everyone in Water Seven. No matter what he did, it always helped the city in some way and he didn't want anything in return. Iceburg has been Paulie's role model since he was a child. Back then, he wanted to be just like this man.
To this day nothing has changed, on the contrary. Iceburg was now more than just a role model for this city and him. When Paulie had these thoughts, he always felt like a child who adored his hero. Paulie smiled at Iceburg, his idol.

When playing cards, the poker face is less important than most people think. Paulie can tell you a thing or two about it. With time and the right understanding, every code can be cracked at some point.
The only important thing when playing is winning. With all means and ways that are available to you. Four small starting points that you should make sure of before the game. You just need a bit of luck, more sense than the other players - which is not too difficult - and a good hand. And of course a balanced level of stamina, the others should notice that you are cheating.

He also knows that Iceburg holds absolutely nothing from his addiction - Paulie would not actually call her such, much more than a kind of devotion - and rigorously tries to lead him on other paths.
Despite all this, Paulie can't help but indulge in alcohol. Whether on a small scale up to total intoxication, it gives him what he misses in many others - a complete loss of reality and his ability to think. It's more than just an addiction. It is his life.

It was just a bitter taste of what was to come in the future. At least that's what Iceburg said stiffly and firmly. Paulie took his word for it and would have loved to have done without it.
