[ Friendship Never Dies ]
one
5.00 am.
Carina's alarm clock rang. The vibrating alarm caused the old cell phone, which the 16 year old was lovingly called the 'phone booth', to move away from the nightstand. Carina winced noticeably under the covers. Why did that stupid alarm clock have to go off right now ?! She had just had such a beautiful dream!
Dreams were so terribly important to her at the moment!
Since she was at this school, her life had become completely different. She had passed her final exam two years ago and now went to school here. With a couple of her friends. Since yesterday.
At the moment when Carina was lying on her back and thinking about the old days, there was a knock on the door. Tina rushed in. Carina sat up annoyed.
"What is it this time?" she growled.
Tina gasped briefly. She was in the next house and must have just run over.
Up until now there have always been four houses at the school. But now it has become five. It reminded Carina a bit of Harry Potter. Hardly anyone knew why there were now five houses instead of four. The headmaster never revealed such things until the students passed their entrance exams and were assigned to their homes. Carina and the gang were studying pretty hard for this exam and of course for getting into a good house.
"Now finally get out of there with the language, Tina!" Carina groaned.
As she got up and went to the bathroom, which was next to her bedroom, Tina quickly started talking. Carina didn't understand everything. Just something about Daisy and Raven that they had to tell them about, Dennis and Hannes, who want to drive a motorcycle race against a very serious guy. Carina winced. Her eyes got really big. She dropped her top on the floor and turned to Tina, who had also bushed. A race? Dennis and HANNES !? Carina clenched her hands into fists.
"Oh really ..." she said icily."Let them do it."
As soon as her concern had come, it was gone as quickly. Tina had seen the cold in her eyes very well. She always expressed this coldness correctly when Hannes and Dennis, the latter rather less so, were planning something stupid again. Tina often heard Carina say: 'Of course, they should do it. I don't give a shit. They are grown up, they can do what they want. I won't interfere anymore, especially not if it doesn't work! ' Oh yeah. Tina knew she didn't mean it and that she was more worried than anyone could ever manage. After all, Hannes was like a brother to her, even if the contact broke off more and more. He didn't seem to care, but Carina still had a kind of motherly feeling for him. She loved him deep down too. Of course, Carina's facade would never allow any of this to leak out again. She had promised herself that a long time ago. Tina hoped that this facade would peel off at some point. She hoped so much that Carina could finally be happy. After so many years. She often said that it was all a waste. That it was nonsensical to take further care of Hannes and his stupidities. In spite of all this, she was barely noticeably still trying to protect him as best she could. She loved him like a brother, she always said to Tina. But she knew that it wasn't damned so. She'd been breaking herself for it for years. Carina shrugged her shoulders when they said: 'How much longer and, above all, why ?! 'She always replied:' Better me than him ... 'At first Tina didn't understand it, but now she did:' I'd rather suffer than him ... '
"Sit down at my notebook," said Carina coolly. "I'll have a quick shower before we pay Raven and Daisy a visit."
Tina nodded. But Carina didn't notice it anymore because she had turned away again. She jumped in the shower and turned on the water. It flowed warm over her skin. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth. She hadn't been surprised for a long time that it wasn't warm inside despite all the warmth from outside. She was always cold, even when the sun was shining outside. It couldn't shock her anymore. The habit had gained the upper hand.
When Carina finished everything and checked her watch, half an hour had passed. She sighed deeply and stepped out of the bathroom with her head held high. Tina was researching for a presentation on the Internet.
"That's the way we can?" Carina asked calmly and picked up her bag. She put on the long coat and waited for Tina, who closed the notebook and got up. She took her expression and smiled at Carina. She nodded briefly and then went out. Tina after her. They locked the door and then went down the long hallway.
There wasn't much activity in the stairwell, only a few students copied their homework. Still quite strange for Tina and Carina. At a boarding school similar to Harry Potter, like that. Downstairs, Carina stopped in front of the coffee machine and dropped some money. Then the girls went out into the courtyard with a mug of coffee.
There wasn't too much going on there either. The golden yellow leaves are many individually from the large chestnut tree that stood in the middle of the large courtyard. Carina liked the school yard. During the break, she mostly played basketball here, in order to react to everything. The young woman noticed a couple of guys standing in a corner looking at her with empty, cold eyes. Carina looked back just as coldly. Tina noticed her too, but said nothing and just looked down. Weird guys.
Daisy and Raven waited on the bench in front of the big tree. Carina and Tina sit down next to them and greet them briefly.
Tina was in a good mood.
"So what's so important now that I have to skip my breakfast?" she asked with a grin.Daisy sighed and pointed to the guys:
"That one."
Carina's gaze followed Daisy's head movement to the weird guys.
"We noticed them, yes."
"The one with the light blonde, longer hair, that's Kenji. He calls himself that. I have no idea what his real name is. He's the one who wants to race against Hannes and Dennis."
Carina's eyes darkened.
"Oh really ... Then he's definitely up to something ..."
"Yes, that's why we called you here," said Raven. "The races are forbidden. And especially at night. We'll tell you the rest inside, over dinner. It's too dangerous out here ..."
Tina and Carina nodded. The four made their way inside. The guys looked after them and Tina ran coldly down her spine at the sight of them.
As luck would have it, Daisy and Raven spoiled their stomachs with a bad carton of milk. They couldn't tell Tina and Carina what happened to this guy and what exactly he was up to. The two had to stay in bed for at least two days.
The morning passed in a flash. German, math, English, sports, history, computer science and theater group. Carina was still worried. She could not concentrate properly on the lessons and was warned several times by various teachers.
In the evening, she and Tina picked out outfits and judged each other. It was early September, but still pretty warm. You could wear a sweet jacket and not wear anything too warm. Tina didn't take as long as Carina. They were both still wondering what to do with this guy. You had to prevent anything from happening to the boys!
Later, around 11 p.m., they left school and started walking. She had to walk a short distance through the forest. The circuit was 1000 meters long and there was only one corner. A very sharp turn. Carina was worried about that alone.
It took them maybe 10 minutes to get there.A guy who had also stood in the school yard with Kenji's group that morning waved the red flag. Three motorcycles were brought onto the racetrack by their drivers. The torches that served as lights were lit and in the next moment everything was brightly lit. Tina and Carina were right at the front and worried about the boys. More Carina than Tina. Nevertheless, they enjoyed this cool, but mild night, the starry sky and the crescent moon. Not a cloud could be seen in the sky. Lots of people were there to see this race. Carina looked around.
All of a sudden, Kenjis and their eyes met. His eyes were steel blue, but the next moment they turned red. Carina got scared when she was pulled into this deep hole. She went black for a split second. Images passed her that shouldn't have been.
Hannes, Dennis and Kenji who drove the race.
Kenji, who left the two behind.
Hannes, who caught up and fought next to the blonde.
Then the weird guy suddenly rammed Hannes.
A scream, a fall.
Carina was startled from this nightmare. She didn’t think long, then turned and stared at the three drivers for a second. She heard the weird guy's evil laugh. That deep, cold voice. It scared her, but still it wouldn't stop her.

Carina swung herself over the barrier and ran towards the three of them.

She gasped, slipped, and stretched her foot. With a sharp scream, she slumped on the edge.

Carina looked up. The drivers heated up their engines.
The starting shot a lot. The engines roared and the machines accelerated at breakneck speed. Carina pulled herself together, forgot the pain and jumped to her feet. She limped onto the train and waved her arms. It was good that she and Tina had placed ourselves further back.
Carina screamed and tried to make it clear to them that they should stop.Dennis was the first to respond. Hannes, behind him, followed the example. They both stopped and took off their helmets. Kenji had stopped a little further back and looked over at them grinning.
"Are you completely stupid ?!" shouted Dennis and dismounted.
Carina no longer heard any of this. She smiled at them, but her ears and voice were long gone. Her injured foot gave way. Then she collapsed and landed on the floor.
