Fanfic: The Path
Chapter: Night whispers
She was angry. A lot. She wanted to loudly vent her anger. Realized that this would be suicidal. Friends with too little sleep - that could end badly. Kicked the bed, then held his foot, cursing. Decided to "get some fresh air" on the balcony.
"How dare he, how can he ?! Excuse me, you arrogant, useless, self-loving pumper, you !! Arrrgh, something rude!" Leylan swore wildly to himself, her voice lowered, her hands clasped the white railing. One curse chased the next, always careful not to make too much noise. When she arrived at Curse 18, she suddenly realized how stupid she was actually acting.
> But it's fun <, she thought with a shrug and gave a relaxed laugh. Then she let herself slide to the floor, still laughing, with the winding railing behind her, and inhaled the cool, fresh night air.
The fragrant night air in the lungs, soothed her heated mind in a pleasant way and slowly let her think clearly again. With his arms wrapped tightly around his body, Leylan dared an honest and neutral assessment of the past conversation between her and Tala.
"Is it really cowardice that made me flee? Is it really my pride that forbids me to take the 1st step? No, it is not cowardice and no, it is not pride ... it is the source of these feelings: Fear. I was Afraid to return to Kai after this argument, afraid of how he would think of me, whether his gaze would reflect the same gentleness as before. And today, today I'm afraid of approaching him, afraid of his reaction. His feelings nobody knows and even if what Tala said is true, if I really still feel something for him, who will guarantee me that Kai's feelings for me have not yet died? I cannot, I cannot approach him full of uncertainty, just hoping he might not avert his gaze and return my feelings, if they exist at all.I can overlook rejections ... but not when it's Kai who makes me stumble back with a cold and indifferent expression. If I unexpectedly bump into his meter-thick wall of ice, stumble and no helping hand, save me from a painful fall into the depths.
I can't do that ... ", she mumbled quietly to herself and a small tear left a hot trail on her cheek, until she finally breathed out her life silently on Leylan's bare knees. Leylan quickly wiped away the trail of the tear and kept up of all power others from following their example.
> No, I won't cry, not for HIM. While I am thinking about my possibly existing feelings, he is sleeping calmly or thinking back to past affairs. No, Leylan, you are strong and independent, what you need are your friends and not a man who will leave you behind in a devastating blizzard at the earliest opportunity. Kai may not be a man for love, but we're so alike that we'd certainly make good friends. <, she thought aloud and then stood up resolutely. Even though she knew she was wronging Kai, the finality of her words felt strangely liberating.
"Tss, only the 3rd day in my" new "life and already so much excitement ..."
With a noticeably loosened knot in her stomach, she threw herself on her large bed, stretched out all fours and exhaled comfortably. Turning her head to the open balcony door, she watched with sleepy eyes the shallow wind chimes of the white, floor-length curtains; how they bulged gently and then suddenly fell into each other.
Bulging, falling into each other, billowing, falling into each other, billowing out ...
Leylan's eyes closed unnoticed, the black eyelashed eyelid lowered gently and Leylan's mind plunged into pleasant darkness, her subconscious took over and began to process the events in its very own way.~
Since Kai had left Tala and Leylan, he was lying on his bed with his eyes wide open, only wearing boxer shorts and clearly annoyed. The sleep did not want to set in, his innermost being was too agitated, even if he did not really want to admit it. He had previously wanted to ask Leylan about her answers during the "interrogation", which he found strangely suspicious, but could not bring himself to do so. Even their completely irritating approach during today's training just couldn't get out of his head, this sudden feeling of closeness was too unfamiliar. If he could have slapped himself in the face for his, if only mumbled, apology, he now thought it was an appropriate gesture. After all, her reaction had shown that she was either uncomfortable and embarrassed to be around him or that other, deeper feelings might be the reason.
> Doesn't it mean: Still waters run deep? <, it suddenly occurred to him. But he immediately rejected this thought.
"She is not quiet, she is often spirited, she lets herself be guided by feelings and simply acts from her gut, but on the other hand, she often behaves in the opposite way. Then she is as smooth and inscrutable as a mirror, all sensations seem to be from her to bounce off and she acts according to a well thought-out and goal-oriented pattern of action. Like the two sides of a coin ... "
He let the words fade out softly, a soft laugh escaped him and he ran a sigh through his hair. For him it was more than astonishing how well he knew the black-haired Bladerin, how aptly he was still able to assess her. There was something else that bothered him the whole time: Shortly after he retired to his room, loud voices could be heard from downstairs, voices clearly from Tala and Leylan, who definitely had nothing nice to say to each other.Kai held his aching head, so much work for his otherwise quietly dribbling thoughts was usually not the order of the day and therefore had a not inconsiderable effect on him.
For the first time, he was looking forward to tomorrow, Sunday, when the otherwise daily fitness training was not part of the program.
"Tomorrow Yuriy, tomorrow it's your turn.", He mumbled and then added: "Only three days have passed since her arrival and she's already causing more hustle and bustle than expected ..."
His hard-working thoughts kept him awake until late at night, but at some point the tired half-Russian slipped into a deep, if restless, sleep.
~
Just like Kai, Tala and Leylan slept half the day, no delicious breakfast from the cook staff and no loud whistling from the entertainment officers, they could move only an inch. Kai only blinked once sleepily, grabbed his alarm clock and threw it purposefully at the scared Tyson. After this incident the subject was over and the three of them were allowed to go back to sleep, albeit suspiciously. Secretly, Tyson and Ray were very happy that the daily training would now be canceled and that they were given a really "free" day. So Ray grabbed Tyson, Hilary and Mariah and put them in the car.
"With such nice weather you shouldn't stay in the house! In addition, we no longer run the risk of being forced to do a subsequent training by Kai."
Tyson nodded in agreement and Mariah laughed: "And these are supposed to be" real "bladers!"
"We've got it, you can skip training. Drigger and Dragoon are the masters anyway!" Tyson replied, slapping his hand held out in Ray. Hilary pouted at this, but suppressed any comments. Even though her sense of duty as a manager reported and she looked forward to a whole day with Tyson with mixed feelings, she was happy to be able to leave the stress behind and leaned back relaxed in her seat."Didn't Eve want to come with you?" Tyson asked the buckle up Ray.
"No, I asked her, but she'd rather wait for Tala and get her time out with him."
Shrugging, Tyson glanced at the house, which slowly escaped his field of vision until it finally disappeared completely behind the tall trees and they gradually left the driveway behind them.
Eve looked after her friends with a sigh, then turned to the messy-looking breakfast table.
> Mmmm, I would have enjoyed a day in the park too; I really can't leave Tala alone with the two of them. <, she thought resolutely and then set about getting the table up to scratch. Even though Eve had only met Leylan three days ago, she didn't know what to make of her. The casual closeness between her and Tala made her suspicious, but also her self-assured and tough demeanor. She seemed to get along well with everyone in the house, even if something serious seemed to have happened between her and Kai. Unlike her, Leylan was not an intruder, not a stranger - the Bladebreakers were her friends, her family.
Eve had been living under one roof with Hilary, Mariah and the boys for half a year now, but a certain distance was still noticeable.
> I'm just ´Tala's girlfriend´ <, she thought and threw the spoons in the hand into the dishwasher with a clang. She hurriedly cleaned up the rest of the breakfast and then listened to any noises from the floor above her - but nothing.
"Tala is still sleeping," she said with a sigh, walking towards the door, and then sat down in the living room next door in front of the television. With a satisfied smile spread all over the sofa, Eve was enjoying her day off.
Neither Leylan, nor Tala or Kai showed up during the day, it was only in the late afternoon that Leylan slowly woke up and grabbed his aching head.Groaning and clumsy, she lifted herself out of bed, let her sleeping clothes slip from her body and with half-closed eyes pulled on loose hip jeans and a black T-shirt with large pumpkin faces that bore the words: Hunting Girls - 'Halloween all over the Jear´.
Then, standing in front of the mirror, she carelessly ran her hair through her black mane and cast a scrutinizing look in the mirror - the shock couldn't be greater!
"Holla, I look like Frankenstein's sweetheart ... oh what the heck."
She shuffled barefoot down the hall when she came across the landing of the quay from the other side of the hall. He gave her a quick nod, then cast an amused look at her outfit and then went down the stairs in front of her.
"What was that supposed to mean? Hmpf, idiot.", She thought and narrowed her eyes to narrow slits. Sullenly, she padded down the
