stairs and dragged herself further into the kitchen, where she let herself groan on a chair. The

Kai was fiddling with the shelves just a few meters in front of her, left her completely cold at the moment. Kai threw her an inconspicuous out of the corner of his eye and then asked in a voice that was as uninvolved as possible: "Any wishes regarding the food?"
Then Leylan finally woke up and raised his eyebrows in surprise. That Kai asked her what she would like to eat, impossible to ignore. A little confused but with a firm voice she replied: "Cornflakes, I can eat cornflakes at any time of the day."
With a smile he replied: “It's the same with me.” Without turning to her again, he filled two bowls and poured the milk over them. Without a word he put one in front of Leylan and sat across from her. She was about to get up to grab a spoon when he, still silent, pushed the spoon intended for her across the table.
This small, somewhat awkward gesture elicited a gentle smile from the silent Bladerin and she glanced at Kai.The moment her eyes met his face, he looked up too. He saw her smile and without thinking about it, his lips formed a smile too, all of a sudden and very easily. He kept this smile until the other person looked down and slowly began to spoon the cornflakes.
Kai had made up his mind last night when sleep just didn't want to reach him. He had made up his mind to allow a change, a change in his behavior, a change and his life. Even if his feelings for Leylan were by no means clear, the memory of days gone by was too beautiful, the desire for closeness too strong. He spent his life at a lonely distance, a lone fighter as he is in the book. For him love was a sign of weakness and weakness led to inferiority. However, Kai was intelligent enough to see mistakes and errors and accept: "Maybe I was just wrong."
He felt good at the thought of his nocturnal decision. Yes, it would open up and possibly really bond Leylan and him more - what did he have to lose?

The young man had no idea that Leylan had also made a decision last night that was aimed at the opposite, friendship.
