Two orphans for Tobi

"Well, hello! Who are you?"
Nagato turned several times but saw nothing where the voice could come from. A petite blue-haired girl tugged at his sleeve and pointed forward. A medium-sized man in an orange mask and a grayish hoodie stood just a few meters in front of them.
Nagato immediately noticed that this man, whoever he was, had only recently been outside. His clothes were completely dry and only now were the water droplets slowly peeling off his sweater. But this was almost impossible! Far and wide he saw no shelter where he could have stood. So HE seemed special.
Instinctively, he stood in front of Konan.
"Who are you and what do you want from us ?!"
Konan leaned over to him.
"Did you hear or notice that he was approaching?"
He just shook his head. She must have been just as confused by his appearance as she was.
"Hoho! How hostile today? Well, I don't want to be like that ..."
The mask wearer cleared his throat briefly and bowed to the two of them.
"Tobi is my name and I wanted to ask if two orphans like that aren't hungry!"
The two children briefly exchanged suspicious looks.
This time Konan had his say:
Yes, but how should we know that we can trust them? "
Tobi laughed in amusement. "I guess you sat on the wrong horse today, huh?"
He rummaged in his pockets and pulled out a loaf of bread.
"Start here!"
Nagato grabbed it immediately and his eyes began to glow slightly. He was about to take the final bite when Konan snatched it from his hand.
He looked at her in a huff, but she got ahead of him.
"Who knows what you put in there, stranger!"
She poked a hole in the middle and pulled out a small piece of the inside of the bread.
"You first!"
She snapped at him and threw the piece to Tobi.
He nodded and pushed his mask up until his mouth was free. Then he pushed the piece of bread between his lips.
She watched him closely and exhaled with relief when he swallowed the piece a short time later and licked his lips.
She smiled slightly and broke the bread in two.
One for her and one for Nagato ...
Who knows ... Maybe this guy wasn't so bad after all ...
