"Unexpected visit from the stray"
I thought I didn't see right! This guy actually had cat ears and a tail! Kind of ... creepy.
I took a few steps back and tripped over my umbrella. Damn it! I landed in a puddle and I was pitsche wet! The boy seemed to be purring in amusement and came up to me too. His tail lashed back and forth. I screwed up my eyes, hoping this was just a bad joke, or at least a nightmare. At some point there were no more steps to be heard and I dared to open my eyes.
However, I winced when the guy kneeled at eye level with me and blinked.
"What is it?" He asked. "Do I look that terrifying?"
"Y-you have ...", I mumbled and I couldn't really manage to get more than that.
"I know.", He sighed annoyed and stood up.
He held out a hand to help me up and gave me a friendly smile. Hesitantly I let myself be helped up and he also picked up the umbrella for me.
"I'm sorry," he muttered.
I eyed him suspiciously and finally sighed.
"Come on in." I mumbled and ran, umbrella in hand, back to the front door. He followed me without asking anything.
I unlocked the door and he put the umbrella aside. Then I went to the side so that he could come too. He closed the door behind him and looked around.
"Nice," he said, twitching one ear.
I grumbled a little and headed for the room. Again he followed me. I opened the door to my room and let him in. When he was inside I closed the door and pointed to my bed for him to sit down. He also just sat down without arguing and looked at me expectantly. I stood right in front of him and reached out my hands to his ears, grabbed them and pulled on them.
"Wah-? Mraaaaah!" He yelled and screwed up his eyes.
I let go of his ears and he sighed in relief before I crossed my arms and just "Get up!" called. He eyed me suspiciously, but got up hesitantly. I grabbed his cat's tail and got dressed. This time too he screamed. Damn it! What kind of thing was that?
"Do you still have all the cups in the cupboard?" He asked, growling.
My eyes widened and I took a few steps backwards.
a cat! I thought. 'He's a cat! ´
He looked at me confused and walked up to me.
"Are you ... a cat?" I asked in a low voice.
He stopped and blinked in surprise.
"Coincidentally, yes. Why do you ask?" He asked.
I stopped now and looked at him again. He was full of blood. Nobody could see that. I ran towards the door and grabbed his arm as I passed. The ´cat´ winced briefly and he let himself be carried away. I ran to the bathroom at the end of the hall, dragged him in, and pushed him on the edge of the bathtub to make him sit down. Then I got a first aid kit out of the closet and opened it.I held his wrist and started bandaging his arm. He twitched his ears and began to purr.
"I'm Davis," he purred. "Davis Morizuka."
I glanced at him before turning back to his arm.
"Shion Nadeshiko." I just said and swallowed.
Actually, I was terrified of cats, I was embarrassed, but I couldn't leave anyone so hurt after all.
"Tell me," I started. "Were the cops after you?"
"Yes, they were," he purred on.
"Why, if I'm allowed to ask?"
"I was on the run!" He said with shining eyes. "Isn't it allowed to take anything here with you?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, looking at him when I finished with his arm.
"Well ... kind of like self-service," he muttered.
I took a rag out of the box and used it to clean a few bloody wounds on his face.
"No, not really. That's what you call stealing, idiot!" I hissed.
He winced a little and closed his eyes.
"You humans are really weird. I would love to go back ...", he mumbled.
What should that mean again? It would be best not to ask any more. He gives kind of weird answers.
When I was finally done with him I smiled contentedly. One of his arms was bandaged, there were plasters on the other arm and face and I tried to clean the scratches as well as I could.
"How did that actually happen?" I asked.
"And what do you mean now?" He asked.
"Well ..." I mumbled and considered. "You just said you were on the run. And what did you steal anyway?"
"Bread," he purred. "Freshly baked."
"And now to my question."
"Which question?"
"Why you look that way!"
This guy was driving me crazy!
"Oh, that's what you mean," he muttered. "Well, I'm a bit clumsy."
"Something?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Well, it doesn't matter now. You are finished and can go now."
"Oh, I'm not allowed to stay?" He asked, sounding a little sad.
No matter how much I hated cats, he just looked like a toddler with a sad expression on his face.
"All right," I mumbled. "You can stay, but only for one night!"
"Oh yeah!" He purred.
I turned and ran back to my room, followed by Davis, or whatever his name was. I took a sleeping bag out of my closet and gave it to Davis. Luckily my mom was on the night shift tonight. Finally I got my bedding out of the closet and headed for the door.
"You can lie down already," I said. -2 But don't do any antics, will you? "
"Sure! And good night!" He said.
"Night.", I replied and ran back to the bathroom and changed.
A few minutes later I left it and made my way to my room. When I walked in, Davis was curled up on my bed. Sighing, I turned off the light and closed the door.I took a blanket that was next to my bed and covered him. Now I crawled under my covers and closed my eyes. Fortunately my bed was big enough. But tomorrow he had to go again.
