Today the summer vacation was over again and the students returned from their families. In addition, new ones came every year to replace the graduates. Just like in a normal school. Nevertheless, the number of new students was lower and that from year to year. This made it clear that either there were no longer so many magically gifted families among the people, or that the young people / children were saved from their identity. Belief in the old power was simply no longer enough these days. "You can feel it more strongly than ever ...", Miss Tsensy muttered to herself and hadn't noticed how some colleagues toasted her - initially with water, of course.
The actual celebration only began after the reading and presentation of the house. First the performance took place, then the reading of the house rules and school rules and then the presentation of the staff. The school was an old mansion with many outbuildings and a large courtyard. Many human activities could also be carried out here after the class was over, or sometimes even as class. The boarding school therefore offered many leisure opportunities.
A few hundred meters away from the boarding school was also the city that you could go to on weekends. There was a lot of shopping there. Clothes shops, book shops, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, Suviniershops and some restaurants. All of that, she would have to give in her speech, which is why Miss Tsensy went over it all again in her mind, waving the note in her hand. When she finally arrived in the auditorium, she gazed at the sea of ​​students who were now visibly calmer as the teachers stood behind the podium and nodded to the elderly. With a glance at the clock - it was just seven thirty in the evening - everyone realized that it would only be a matter of seconds before the opening took place. "All right ... now ..." the headmistress muttered so that no one could hear her as she looked at the large, round clock over the front gate. She smiled slightly. The auditorium darkened and sparks flew over the gallery on which the teachers had positioned themselves. The students looked around in every direction and some of the older students came from the upper corridors. The demonstration began.
On either side of the gallery, five students came and made cat-like movements before they stopped and reached out for something that only seemed to be visible to them. A boy stepped into the middle of the two girls who had lined up on the edge of the gallery where the stairs began to lead down and stretched his arms to one side.He snapped his fingers and fire appeared over him, between the two girls. The first reached out from behind and swirled up water, which wrapped around the fire. The second also took off and air swirled visibly around the other elements. "Fire, water and air. These elements shape our gifts ...", began one of the other girls who had been hiding up to now in a practiced yet traveling tone. Downstairs, in front of the gallery, the students had already formatted themselves into a semicircle in order to offer space for the students dancing in a light circle. "The bird of fire ...", she began and the visible element turned into a screeching phoenix that proudly spread its wings, "... is characterized by courage and concentration ...", it remained in its position and she began with the second element, water. "The water dragon ...", she began and this element also contracted and a dragon head pulled out of the element ball, which wanted to devour the firebird, but stayed in his shortly before it snapped shut Position, "Stand by his mistakes and is ready to help others ...", the dancers now jumped in a certain koreography, but did not let themselves be deterred and remained concentrated. "The air ...", the mentioned element changed to a feather that came to a stop between the dragon's head and the right wing of the phoenix at a hint from her conjurer, stayed there too, "... Remain loyal and act with care ... ". The dancers came to a stop and the narrator slowly stepped down the stairs as she continued to speak. "This is what sets us apart and it is something special, like our powers, that we will learn to use them properly.", The elements merged with one another during this time and gave a hissing hiss as they dissolved and the students who did them had sworn to stand up again. "The Academy of Night welcomes you when you are ready to take care of it.", She said and the previous dancers raised their arms when the narrator had reached the end of the gallery and bowed to the crowd with the others. Exactly then, a "Welcome to the Academy of Night" appeared above them in the room, with sparkling sparks and set in their elements, and this too faded with a loud hiss and the room became bright again. The new students and the second and third graders applauded as the performers rose again.
