The help of strangers
Hey ^^
I hope you enjoy the second chapter!
Have fun while reading! ;)
She woke up yawning and rubbed her eyes sleepily.
She was still on the ground, under the tree, but who was this person?
Slowly she got up and stretched with relish.
She was free now, but what should she do now? If she were to look for a home, she would feel the same way again, but if she wandered around in the forests and landscapes she would eventually starve to death or die of thirst.
The sun was shining and through the dense treetops you could see the clear sky.
A small smile played on her lips and so she went on.
Time passed quickly and it ran for a long time.
She was used to enduring it without water and without food, but that was too much for her too.
In the distance she saw two figures approaching her.
They were moving slowly, so they hadn't recognized them yet.
Yue closed her eyes to see her better.
Shape in coats. The coats were printed with red clouds and they also wore large hats.
She stopped and waited.
But they passed her.
Surprised and confused, she looked after them.
“Excuse me?” She whispered, but neither person turned.
Impatiently she followed them slowly.
"Sorry ... I-" Again they showed no reaction and Yue stopped.
“Excuse me, could you please help me?” She screamed and the men in question stopped.
Startled, Yue covered her mouth. She would never have believed she was addressing a normal person in that tone.
“What?” A cold voice interrupted her thoughts and she started up.
She lowered her gaze, as she always did when talking to people, but that rarely happened. It was always asked of her that way.
"I ... would you help me, please? I ..." she stopped. She felt the scrutiny of the strangers on her.
She closed her eyes tightly and held her breath.
"Help? You? Why should we?" One man asked mockingly.
"... because ... I ... need help ..." She stammered out.
"How should we help you?" Asked the other.
"I ... I just have to get away from the slave trader! Somewhere where I won't get hit! Please!" She said in a pleading tone.
She waited for an answer but none came.
Slowly and carefully she raised her head and saw how she was eyed by the strange men.
“You are a slave?” Asked one of the two, but she couldn't see his face.
A weak nod from Yue's side confirmed the question.
“Shall we take her with us?” She pricked up her ears and looked curiously at the strangers in their black coats.
“As far as I'm concerned,” replied the other coldly.
Silently they turned around, walked on and Yue looked after them in astonishment.
“Who are you waiting for?” She heard from the front and ran after them.
They ran into the night and then set up camp.
Yue sat quietly on the floor in front of the fire. Her eyes closed slowly, but she still stayed awake.
“You should sleep, we still have a long way to go,” said one of them.
She looked at him in surprise.
She put her head on the floor and closed her eyes.
Only now did she notice how tired she actually was.
** Yue's point of view **
I woke up.
I blinked around and saw that I was moving.
I was carried.
"Let me down. I want to go myself. Please let me down!" I screamed and fidgeted like a madman, but he wouldn't let go of me.
We were in a corridor or something similar and stopped.
“We're there,” a man said to me and read me down.
"You take her to your room, she definitely doesn't want to see me." Said the other man and took off his hat.
I was surprised to see him. Was the man a fish or a person ... although that is not clear to me either ...
The fishman was walking down the dark corridor and I watched him go after him, dizzy.
"Come over." Said the other to me.
I nodded and followed him wordlessly until we stood in front of a door.
“Go in.” He said and disappeared into a corridor.
I entered the room and was amazed.
So many books ...
They were stacked on a large shelf, on the bedside table and on the desk.
I sat on the floor and picked up one of the books on the bedside table.
I gently stroked the book and began to smile.
For the first time I was holding a book.
They hadn't taught slaves to read and write, so I didn't think I'd ever hold a book in my hand.
Suddenly the door opened and I dropped the book.
Finished!
The next chapter should follow soon, but I can't make any promises ...;)
