Chapter: Friendships
(Marik's point of view)
"I'm going!" I called to my residents. "It is clear!" He called back. I closed the door behind me. Bakura is my roommate in this boarding school. Like me, he's a vampire. But older. He was transformed at 18 and has been a vampire for 110 years. I'm Marik Ishtar, I was transformed at 17 and have been a vampire for 100 years. Bakura is my best friend. Except Ryou. Ryou is a werewolf and my best friend too. We should really be enemies. But we have become friends since I saved him. We meet regularly. Even if it has to be secret.
"Hey Ryou!" I called out to a mop of white hair. The sun was shining on my already tanned skin. We vampires are different than in the stories. For example, we don't disintegrate too dust in the sun. We just don't like sunlight. Although I'm an exception. I love the sun And we are not afraid of crosses, holy water or anything. What many do not know is that we also need air to live. We don't kill people either, we just stun them. "Hey Marik!" Ryou called back.
I hugged him briefly: “How are you?” “Oh, very well. And you?” He asked. "Also. What do we want to do?" I asked. Then suddenly I felt a tree hard against my back. . I gasped in surprise and pain. I felt a hand on my throat. "Mariku!" Ryou yelled, startled. "Let go of him!", He ordered near tears. Then he was also pressed against a tree. My breathing was difficult. I focused back on the hand on my throat. Due to the little training I could not solve it. Maybe it was because I'm almost suffocating. "Let go of him!" Shouted my best friend. Really, the hand on my throat came off. Bakura also released his grip on Ryou's throat, who immediately fell to his knees.
"Are you okay?", Bakura stood next to me. I hugged him: “Yes. Thank you.” Bakura put his arms around my waist. I broke up with him and walked slowly to Ryou. The guy who attacked me growled. A hand grabbed my forearm. "What are you doing there, Marik?" Asked Bakura. "I want to see Ryou." I said and took his hand to pull him towards me. Ignoring the knocking guy, I crouched down to Ryou: "Are you okay?" Ryou had a few tears in his eyes: "Yes. I'm sorry about Mariku." I helped him up. "What was that Mariku doing?" He asked immediately. "Very simple. Vampires.", He pointed to me and then to Bakura. Although we didn't have a scent of our own. "Well. This is Marik. I think we'll meet different times," he said. "Ok. See you then." I said and gave him a short hug.
I went with Bakura. "Why were you here Bakura?" I asked hesitantly. "I don't know. Something told me you were in danger. Who were they?" He replied. "That was Ryou, the smaller one. I've saved him once since we've been friends. I don't know the other one. I don't think I want to get to know him either.", I said. He unlocked the door and let me enter first. I sat down on the sofa in front of our television.
Bakura sat down next to me. I leaned on his shoulder: “Thank you for helping me.” A sigh ended his throat and he put an arm around me. "I like to do it. But ... promise me that you will never go to a werewolf without me again.", He asked. "Ok. But I want you to give me the freedom to talk to him. So ... With a distance," I said. Bakura nodded and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.
"Ok. Bedtime.", Bakura said and got up. "Are you coming?" He asked. I considered. "Carry me." I stretched out my arms to him. He sighed and carried me into my room.
(Ryou's point of view)
"What was the Mariku doing?" I asked shyly on the way to the boarding school. "Ryou ... I want to protect you. And you know that I hate vampires. Even though the little one looked good.", Mariku answered. "But ... I've been meeting him for a long time." I mumbled near tears. "Hey ... Ryou don't cry. Why are you meeting him?" He asked. I wiped the tears from my eyes: "He saved me. Besides, I have no one else. You are usually not there in the afternoon either." He unlocked our apartment door. Mariku and I were residents. I was rather pale and had snow-white hair, and my body was thin. Mariku, on the other hand, had brown skin, sandy blonde hair and was strong. No idea why we became friends.
Mariku said: "You can meet him ... if I come with you." "But you are never there." I pouted. "As of today. I will definitely not leave you alone with these vampires.", He hissed. "Ok. Oh yes ... I know the one at all. Only the smaller one. I don't know the pale one." I sat down on the sofa. "Who is the little one?" Asked Mariku, sitting next to me. "His name is Marik. He was transformed when he was 17. Marik saved me, otherwise I might be dead," I explained. "Ok. How long has he been a vampire?" Asked Mariku. "I think he's been a vampire for 100 years for a few weeks," I replied. "Does he have any weaknesses?" He asked. "I'm not telling you that. Besides, I'm hungry," I said and quickly went to the kitchen.
"Mariku! You didn't go shopping!" I exclaimed, disappointed. "I couldn't! Had to protect you!" He called from the living room. Sighing, I went to my room. "I'm in the room!" I called to Mariku and closed the door. I went to my desk and got my MP3 player. Then I went to bed and turned it on. I closed my eyes and listened to the loud music of Culcha Candela.
