With a thud, his knees hit the hard floor. His pulse was racing and his heart pounding mercilessly against his chest. His palms were now touching the ground to support him. The sweat dripped onto the shiny surface. He had no more strength, his vision blurred again and again.
He didn't want to be an outsider anymore. He would give anything for a little credit, even his health. It was difficult for him to breathe, he had taken too much on himself, his pride had brought him to the edge of his endurance. His faster breathing hurt his ears. He was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion.
"Go on," he thought and admonished himself. He had to fight. It was a fight he couldn't possibly lose. It was his dream. The only thing that gave him the strength not to give up. One of his arms buckled, he couldn't go on, he couldn't even get up. He tried again to pull himself up, but it was in vain.
"Don't give ...", but he got no further, even his thoughts were no longer strong enough to express themselves fully. The sound of a door opening quietly reached his ears, but at that moment his muscles failed, his arms could no longer hold him.
"Key-Jay!" Someone shouted. A girl. He knew her voice. Before he could think about it any further, his senses faded. Through a veil he could still see her kneeling in front of him, her eyes were full of worry and fear, then everything around him went black and he lost himself in nothing.
