Disturbing news
Chapter 9
I slowly opened my eyes again. I raised my head, causing a sharp pain. Out of reflex, I let it sink again. My hands and feet were cuffed so I could barely move. The wall behind me was slightly damp, but that didn't really bother me. As I looked around, I realized that I must be in a cave. The walls were all gray-brownish. I heard footsteps coming towards me. I winced briefly. I could only see black outlines because the light was very weak. But I would have recognized this person anywhere. When he started to speak, I was quite sure: "Well, wake up again?" "Itachi!" I hissed. "Why so angry? We got on well ...!" He grinned. "And what if it did! What's the shit ?! Let me go!" I was angry, disappointed and close to tears. "Why? You just came here.", Itachi said innocently. “Why are you doing this?” I tried to lift my head, but immediately had to lower it again as it was still painful. "Do you really think I was just being so nice to you? Do you really think it was a coincidence that we met?" To be honest ... yes. "I didn't think about it because it does happen that you meet people." I answered with an ironic undertone. Itachi said nothing more. I eyed him briefly. "What do you want from me? I don't have chakra, I'm not strong either and I can't do jutsus. I don't even know what that is." I started after a while. "Right, but you have something we want," said Itachi. “We?” I raised an eyebrow. “You will get to know the others, trust me.” Itachi grinned, albeit in a rather vicious way. I winced again. “Wait a minute!” I just got enlightenment. “You never had a car accident, right?” Itachi grinned again. “Smart and pretty, huh?” I looked him in the eyes contemptuously. "To be honest ..." He was playing around with a kunai. "... I killed her." Sasuke was right. "But ... why? And why did you spare Sasuke?" I wondered. After all, he'd killed his entire family, so why not Sasuke too? "Because he's not worth dying," Itachi replied. I think I misheard. “Please?” Itachi cocked her head. "What? Sasuke is a stupid little boy who doesn't deserve death." He pretends that death is something beautiful ... Well, other countries, other customs. "Ok, but why did you kill your family? Because they deserve to die?" I asked. "No! I had to prove my strength.", Itachi said bluntly. "You mean ... it was just for fun? And you didn't kill Sasuke because he isn't worth wasting your strength on him?" I asked, slightly shocked. Itachi nodded silently. "You are ... a ..." Tears welled up in my eyes."A monster!" I yelled. That cool laugh again. The laughter stopped as steps came towards us. Itachi put on a black coat with red clouds on it. "Itachi, did you ... I can see, very good." The man's gaze was fixed on me. "Hi." I greeted the man unfriendly. He smiled. “Hello.” “What do you want from me?” I asked the man. "I think there is still some time left," he answered me. "By the way, I'm Pain." "I'm Caro," I replied. "I know who you are. That's why we brought you here.", Pain explained. "If you want a ransom, my brother is as poor as a church mouse," I said. “No, we want something else.” He smiled again. "What do you mean?" I asked. "You can imagine that." He turned to Itachi. “Bring the others in, it's getting late and I don't want them caught!” Itachi nodded and disappeared. "My brother will definitely be looking for me!" I said hopefully. Pain wanted to say something, but then my cell phone started ringing. "Shit ..." I whispered. Pain came up to me and pulled the cell phone out of my pocket. "Hello?" He said into the receiver. Now he turned it up loud so I could overhear. "Caro? Where are you?", Came Kakashi's voice on the other end of the line. “She's with us.” Pain grinned nastily. "Pain ?! Let her go!" His voice was definitely angry. "Kakashi!" I called desperately. Judging by his reaction, he seemed to hear me: "Caro? Are you okay?" "She is doing very well. Still!" Fear showed on my face. "Pain, it's between you and me. Keep my sister out of there!", Kakashi said firmly. "Oh, you can't do that. We need them," said Pain. “What?” Kakashi sounded puzzled. So he didn't know why either. "I think you can almost guess it." Pain smiled wryly. "No! You can't do that! She's still a child!" Now I was really scared. "Time to die." Pain whispered into the cell phone and hung up. Itachi reappeared. A lot of other people behind him. That I was lying here against the wall, terrified and in excruciating pain, didn't interest any of them. "Pain, who is that?" Asked a red-haired man. He was maybe 21. "Caro.", I answered. The man looked at me. "So it's you ..." He seemed to be considering. A fair-haired man about his age came up to him. "Oh, our" guest "?" He grinned. "Yes, guest." I grumbled sarcastically. "Oh, bad mood?" He asked with a grin. "Definitely not good ones," I moaned. He laughed. “Deidara!” The redhead hit him on the head. Pain had called everyone together and was beginning to explain his plan. I too listened intently, after all I wanted to know what was happening to me. “We finally have the strength that we still lacked to destroy Konoha.” He looked at me, like the rest of the group. Was it this force I was? I swallowed. Naturally. But I couldn't do anything. “If we hurry, we can start our plan tomorrow.” He laughed, the others shouted and I had no idea what kind of plan that should be. "But she will die in the process.", The blonde interjected. "Deidara, that's the sacrifice we're making. Besides, sooner or later she would die anyway." Pain looked sternly. "Better later, then." I answered. "Shut up!" Declared Itachi. "You have nothing to say to me!" I hissed back. The blonde looked amused. He couldn't stand Itachi. I understood well. "We should guard her so she doesn't just run away," suggested Itachi. "Good idea, then the others can go in time and rest. She probably doesn't pose a threat," Pain agreed. “Who's doing the first shift?” “Me.” The blonde answered. “Good, Sasori will relieve you in two hours.” The blond nodded, the others left. "So Sweety ..." "Call me Sweety again and you know how my fist tastes." I replied bitingly. “Sweet.” The blonde sat down next to me. “I'm Deidara.” “Why are you so kind?” I wanted to know. He shrugged. “Why not?” Another question. "Well, you and the other dull cheeks keep me trapped here." I looked at him from the side. He laughed. It was a nice laugh, very different from Itachi's. "Yeah, right ..." He looked at me too. Our eyes met. I quickly looked at the floor. Make friends with the enemy, it really doesn't get any worse. “Can I ask you a question?” “Sure.” “Um ... what did you mean by strength all along?” My gaze was fixed on the floor. “You don't know?” I shook my head violently. "You have an all-destructive power within you, that's the only reason you're here." Deidara explained to me. "So, am I something of a murder weapon?" I made sure. Deidara nodded. “How come you didn't know about it?” “Nobody has ever told me.” I forced a smile, although I felt more like crying. A few tears dripped onto the floor. Deidara put his arm around me. I shook it off. "Stop it! You're one of them." I slid away from him a little. He looked at what I saw out of the corner of my eye. “Caro!” I looked up. Sasuke and Kakashi stood in the entrance of the cave. “Kakashi!” Deidara rose and looked at me. I looked at him pleadingly. He swallowed, nodded, and disappeared. Sasuke and Kakashi looked after him, confused. "He's going to get the others, we have to get out of here quickly." Kakashi nodded. Sasuke walked up to me, picked me up and ran out of the cave with Kakashi. “Too late!” Kakashi was right. Deidara stood in front of us with the other coat men. "Leave her here and nothing will happen to you," said Pain. "Never in my life!" Replied Kakashi.I couldn't do anything because I was still tied up in Sasuke's arms. "Then it will be your end." Pain grinned. "Sasuke, I want you to bring Caro to Tsunade right away and get reinforcements. I will be fine in that time.", Kakashi whispered to him. "Got it.", Sasuke whispered back. "But -" "Now!" Kakashi yelled. Sasuke started to run. How did he do it? He also had to carry me. I looked back over his shoulder. Nobody followed us. Probably they hadn't noticed yet. Sasuke stopped. Did he feel guilty about Kakashi? “What's going on?” “Sh!” Sasuke listened. "There's someone ..." A branch cracked, someone came out from behind a tree. “Itachi!” Sasuke almost dropped me, he was so mad. Itachi grinned. "I'm sorry, but unfortunately I have to take your little friend away from you." "Forget it!", Sasuke hissed. I felt kind of redundant even though it was about me. “You don't have a chance anyway.” A scornful laugh rang out. It came from Itachi. "Oh yeah?" Sasuke suddenly smiled confidently. "Hurry up, otherwise Kakashi will die." I reminded Sasuke. “Don't worry, it won't take long.” Sasuke laid me on the grass. He started fighting with Itachi. After hitting him with a kunai, Itachi vanished into thin air. Sasuke picked me up again. "What was that about?" I asked. "They wanted us to take a different direction, that's why he only sent a doppelganger.", Sasuke answered. “Ok?” Sasuke ran on. It was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. "How can you see something here?" "I can't." Oh, soothing ... "How do you find the way then?" I asked further. “I'm not stupid.” A blunt answer, as expected. "Can you do me a favor?" "Hm?" "Can you free me from these bonds? They are starting to hurt." I asked him. He stopped. “Sure.” Again I was laid in the damp grass while Sasuke cut the bonds with a kunai. I breathed a sigh of relief. “Thanks.” My wrists ached and the rope had left a red mark. In some places, even the skin was scratched. It was bleeding easily. It didn't look any better on my ankles. "That doesn't look good. We should hurry
