Uploading fanfics

Question: How do I upload a new fanfic?

Answer: First, create a new fanfic (think of it as a “binder” that can be split into chapters). Once the binder exists, open the fanfic page and go to “Fanfic Editing”. Next to chapter editing, choose “New”. Then click “Chapter Editing”, paste/type your text, and adjust any other settings if needed.

Editing fanfics

Question: How do I edit a fanfic?

Answer: Open the fanfic (binder) and go to “Fanfic Editing”. In the chapter section, select the fanfic/chapter you want to work on, then click “Chapter Editing” to edit the text and settings.

How things are connected

Question: What is linked to what?

Answer:

  • Characters are permanently tied to a fanfic and stay there, regardless of chapter assignments.
  • Short descriptions and other fanfic settings are also bound to the fanfic itself.
  • Chapter texts belong to a fanfic, but can be moved between any fanfics by the same author.
  • Fanfic order can be rearranged freely.
  • Comments are always tied to the chapter they were posted on.

Moving chapters (chapter assignments)

Question: How do I move a chapter from one fanfic to another?

Answer: Open the fanfic that currently contains the chapter and click “Chapter Assignments”. Select the chapter you want to move and click “Move” on the right. In the next menu, choose the target fanfic and click “Move” again. The chapter will be added to the end of the target fanfic, and no comments will be lost.

Revising chapters / fixing text

Question: How do I upload new text while keeping the chapter (and comments)?

Answer: You don’t re-upload it. Open the chapter you want to change, replace the old text by pasting in the updated text, and save. That keeps the chapter structure and preserves all comments.
