Chapter 5: A Friend? Impossible!
Again and again her boots got stuck in the muddy ground that had been soaked from the rain. She cursed softly. But it was also her own fault, she had brought all these problems up to herself when she had helped this boy. But he also looked so helpless and these villagers were just sick.
She was now firmly convinced that this boy - Chris or whatever his name was - wasn't a demon. But that had cost her a lot (only for those who still haven't noticed (MarcChaztaB), it's now from the demon hunter's point of view). Now she was also being hunted by the villagers, for them she was now also demonic. She was on the run, again. This is what it always came down to when she was hired by people: She ruined everything. Once she mistook a villager for a demon and accidentally killed him; another time she forgot where the village was to which she was supposed to return. But it had never happened to her that she had left a demon alive just because she thought he was cute ...
Suddenly she heard sobbing nearby. Automatically all the hairs on the back of her neck stood up and she took up fighting stance. A habit she just couldn't get rid of. She calmed down and walked in the direction from which the sobs were coming. She saw something crouch on the floor. Something was just the right word for those crimson-winged creatures crouched there. Definitely, it had to be a demon! She drew her sword as slowly as she could, but the creature noticed anyway. When she turned, her yellow eyes flashed. "... Chris?" Asked the demon hunter and the boy calmed down again. "What happened to you?"
"You were right," he whispered and turned his back on her again. "You were right ... I, a demon ... Holy water was poured over me and there ..."
Only now did the demon hunter notice the numerous wounds on his body, some of which had already become infected.Holy water was often used to force demons to show their true form. That was clear evidence.
"I wanted to stay with the orphans ... I didn't want to leave ... but I'm demonic!" He shouted in disjointed sentences and since she didn't know the background, she didn't know what he was talking about. She gripped the hilt of her sword tighter. "What should I do now ...? The villagers will find me ... but you're protecting me again, aren't you?" He continued to babble and looked at himself hopefully. No, not hopeful: Expectant. He put all his hope in her and smiled, counting on her support. He couldn't be suspicious any longer. He needed someone to turn to, to rely on. But he would probably never get such a person ...
She raised her sword and hit him on the wing. A deep wound was now drawn over the wing and Chris backed away desperately."What ... is that supposed to? I thought you ..." "Nonsense!" She shouted in between, frightening him even more. "I only helped you because I didn't believe that you were a demon! But now it's clear, lousy demon!"
Chris tried to fly again, but with the injury and the little practice he had so far, it was impossible.
She hit him again and hit his arm. She was lucky: she severed his wrists exactly and he fell back to the floor.
In a few minutes he would be bleeding to death ...

:;:;:;:; Yes, I know, a great ending: HE is sitting there in the forest, completely distraught, and she has nothing better to do than cut his wrists first. Now would be a nice moment to break off the story ...:;:;:;:
