The end of the day
It was late in the evening when our heroes set up their last camp in the Earth Kingdom. The sky had turned its otherwise light blue into a deep blue and so a small fire had to be kindled, which should also give a little warmth.
Toph had insisted on looking for a wood fire with Sokka, even if she couldn't find one herself because of her blindness, so she wanted to be a little alone with Sokka. After a while the two came back and Sokka held his torch in his hand, slightly annoyed."Next time I'll go looking for firewood alone!"the young warrior informed his friends. Meanwhile, Toph had put down the pile of wood he had collected and sat down on a tree trunk."I don't even know what you've got, Sokka."said the earthbender innocently."What happened?", Katara asked the two curiously and put the pieces of wood together to form a small pyramid. Sokka just sighed indulgently and lit the little pile of wood with his torch and then threw it into it."He's just embarrassed. That's all.", Toph said loosely and then continued:"When we were in the forest, Sokka surprised me with a hug." / i]Toph looked very cheerful and happy, Sokka, on the other hand, got a red head and muttered incomprehensible words.[i]"Really?", Katara asked again and looked at Toph congratulatory."That's not true at all!", Sokka interjected in protest and gestured around wildly."I never hugged her! I tripped over a root and then accidentally held on to Toph! And she knew perfectly well that there was a root!" he yelled and sat down then pouting next to Aang, who only listened with interest to what was happening.[i]"You could have held onto something else ...", Sokka's younger sister said silly. He, however, had now turned his back to the others and Toph just smiled, embarrassed. For Sokka the subject was clearly closed, which he made clear by the fact that he went to sleep.A moment later, the winged lemur Momo landed on Sokka's stomach and tried to make himself comfortable. But he was scared away in a flash and then sat down on Aang's shoulder and let himself be fed with berries. You could hear a slight murmur from Momo, which didn't sound too enthusiastic.
"Don't get annoyed, Momo. You can sleep with me afterwards.", Aang said cheerfully to his lemur and scratched it. A little later you could hear a hearty yawn from Toph."I am in favor of us all lying down now. It's getting late and tomorrow we have a long journey ahead of us." meanwhile was fast asleep. Toph hastily built a house in the ground into which she disappeared instantly. Aang stayed awake for a while and looked at the clear, starry sky. His mind wandered about tomorrow. Tomorrow he and his friends would embark on a journey to the Fire Nation.Aang only had one element to learn and that was fire. Would he meet a master there who wanted to teach him firebending? This question kept Aang busy for a long time until he fell asleep sitting down at some point. Momo took advantage of this to make himself comfortable in his lap.
Meanwhile, the former Prince Zuko and his uncle Iroh looked for a place to settle down. Zuko irritated the undergrowth with his double swords.[i]"Why did I listen to this old man who calls himself ex-admiral of the Fire Nation ?!", Zuko thought with a sigh. Iroh seemed to mourn the plants destroyed by his nephews.[i]"Why are you destroying all these wonderful plants?"asked Iroh."Because I hate them! Besides, they just stand in the way! You have to put it down to yourself! You didn't want to stay in the village! You'd rather have explored the landscape a little more!" i], the Fire Lord's son almost shouted, chopping more plants out of the way.[i]"And you are now destroying this landscape!"countered Iroh. Zuko stopped instantly and turned to face his uncle. His face expressed all of his anger and disbelief. Before Zuko could say anything, or rather yell, his uncle discovered a clearing that seemed perfect as a resting place."What do you think of this place to rest?", Iroh asked calmly and nodded in his direction. Without further words, Zuko went to this clearing and threw his luggage on the ground. His uncle followed in silence and found a seat."The sky is clear with stars! Look at that!"said Iroh enthusiastically. Zuko raised his head defiantly, then discovered that his uncle was right. In an inexplicable way the sight of the sky calmed him and so he let himself fall into the grass. A few seconds later he fell into a deep and peaceful sleep. Iroh, on the other hand, stayed awake for a while and did not lie down until later.|| That was the first chapter! 'I hope you enjoyed it and that I piqued the curiosity of a few readers.
