Chapter: Weird behavior

When we arrived at the island, we put our luggage on the beach.
"Are we setting up our tents now?" I asked.
"Let's go swimming first," said Sora.
"Well, then we'll just build it up later! What do you say to Riku?", I looked at him questioningly.
"If you both want, we'll go swimming first," he replied.
So we took off our things and put our clothes next to the backpacks and tents that had not yet been set up. We already had our bathing suits underneath, otherwise we wouldn't have just taken off our clothes. (No nudism if you think so òo)
"And now in!", Sora called, took my hand and pulled me into the water.
"Hey! Don't be too hasty!", I laughed and gladly let myself be dragged behind.
"I'm faster than you anyway!" Said Riku, who was just overtaking us. As we ran into the sea, the water splashed in all directions. When I was up to my waist in the water, I said: "A little colder than usual!""Kairi, you'll survive that!" Grinned Riku.
"Once you're really wet, it'll get better," laughed Sora, an even wider grin than Riku's face.
"You are up to something, Sora, otherwise you wouldn't be grinning like that!" I said.
“That's right!” Since he was still holding my hand, it was easy for him to pull me further into the sea and then to him at lightning speed. He put both arms around me and held me tight, which made an attempt to escape impossible. I just managed to catch my breath before he went into hiding with me. I got goosebumps, not quite sure if it was just the cold water. Somehow my stomach got tingly at the realization that Sora had me so close that I could feel him so clearly. We stayed like that in the water for a little while until we came up together again. It's a shame, actually I thought it was pretty nice. Above the water I gasped for air and Sora let go of me again.
"You are mean!"I exclaimed, played offended.
"Ouch, you've hit a sore spot!" Sora grinned. In response, I sprayed him wet. Sora wanted to inject back, but since I was in hiding and Riku was now standing behind me, he got everything. Laughing, I came back to the surface of the water, which Riku didn't like very much, so he grabbed my shoulders and pushed me down. And so it went on for quite a while. I had a lot of fun! When we finally stopped, all of us wanted to swim a little more, so so did we. I was the first to go out because I was thirsty. At the beach I first dried myself off with a towel and then looked for something to drink in my backpack. I found a bottle, opened it and drank. Then I sat down on my cloth and watched the two of them. I saw Sora just come out. I inhaled sharply. His upper body was still wet and glistened in the sun.He shook his head and the water splashed from his hair. My stomach did a backflip. My heart skipped a moment. And I felt that my head could easily compete with a tomato. The sight was simply breathtaking. I closed my eyes and tried to get the image out of my head. But instead it burned itself into my mind's eye and now it didn't want to go away. It had no sense. Sighing softly, I opened my eyes again.
"Are you thirsty?" I asked Sora and he nodded. So I held out my bottle, which I still held in my hand. He sat down with me on the towel and drank from it. When he was done he gave the bottle back, which I put back in my pocket. Then we just sat next to each other for a while.
"Kairi?" Sora broke the silence.
"Yes?"
"What I wanted to ask you ....."
“Hm?” I gave him a questioning look. What did he want?He looked at me too.
"So ..." he began.
"Well, you two!" I suddenly heard Riku's voice. He had come to the water without either of us noticing anything. I looked at Sora that that had somehow upset him.
"What did you want to ask?" I hacked.
"Um ... I wanted to ask if we shouldn't pitch our tents slowly," he replied. I don't know why, but I got the impression that he didn't want to say that originally. Nevertheless, I did not inquire more precisely, I did not want to rush him and he will have his reasons for not asking.
"Yes, we should do that so that we are ready before night falls," replied Riku. So I got up - with a swing. However, a little too much swing, as I found out, because I was a little dizzy, which is why I lost my balance a little and tilted forward slightly. Riku, who was standing in front of Sora and me, held me before I could fall to the ground."Thanks," I said with a smile and got back on my own two feet.
"No problem," said Riku simply. He smiled at me. I don't know why I did it, but I looked at Sora, who was also standing now. That's why I noticed his strange look ... he had never looked like this before. The look just couldn't be read. But it seemed like something didn't suit him. Now I was confused. Apparently I wasn't the only one who is slowly but surely acting weird ...

When we were dry and put our things on again, we started setting up the tents.
"Kairi, if you don't get your tent assembled, you can sleep in mine," Sora said after a while, grinning. I blushed. I also noticed that such remarks were actually atypical for Sora.
"If you don't mind sleeping outdoors under the stars, please," I replied. Although, if Sora asked like that ... nothing there!No no no! I shouldn't even think of that!
"You should be able to get yours done before you imagine what you can do with Kairi," said Riku, who was the fastest of the three of us with the setup. That made Sora blush slightly.
"Hey, am I being portrayed here as an object of amusement or what?" I wanted to know and looked at both of them playfully.
"Yep!" They replied as if from one mouth.
"Great, then I still have a fun night ahead of me," I said with a theatrical sigh.
"And only us," Riku said. To confirm this, both grinned.
"You are mean!" I pouted. I saw the pillow that I had brought for the night and threw it on Sora’s head.
"Wha! Hey, why me?"
"There wasn't any left for Riku."
"You're even nastier than the two of us together!", Sora laughed and threw the pillow back, but I was prepared for it and caught it.
Riku was the first to finish his tent and helped me set it up.I noticed that strange look on Sora again. After all, my tent and Sora's were finished almost at the same time.
I shouldn't be seeing this look for the last time.
And I should also learn what it is all about and see its effects.
If I had already known that at the time, everything would have turned out very differently.
