Water Seven
Iceburg
Chapter 6: Drabbles - Iceburg
A / N: The first Drabble has 200 words instead of 100 - I didn't want to shorten it when I finished it. I hope you don't think that's too bad;)
Also; Italics represent the past!
Drabbles - Iceburg
When Iceburg was completely overwhelmed and overtired with his work, he unceremoniously commissioned Paulie to look for a secretary who could take care of all this for him and he would finally have his peace of mind. At first he had believed that he could do this as quickly and painlessly as possible and hoped that it would not lead to a crowd.
After the announcement of the supervision of a new job had got around and a fair number of people had gathered in Iceburg's office, the latter was surprised to see all the different types of women and men who had applied - and for what banal reasons they were rejected by Paulie. When he seemed to have a quarrel with a blond-haired woman and landed face first on the floor shortly afterwards, Iceburg realized that a simple no would not be enough and that he had probably found his new secretary - whether he wanted to or not.
Iceburg looked at Paulie, who was lying on the floor, with a sorry expression and made a mental note - if he ever wanted to hire a secretary again, he would have to ask God to create her at least twenty to thirty years beforehand.
There was no other way of dealing with both of their requirements.

It was touching how much Iceburg's people worried about him when, despite his injuries, he had arranged for a ship to be cleared and for Enie's lobby. Iceburg felt as if he were sitting on coals, so impatiently he paced up and down the ship, waiting for a sign that they were approaching. When the guard screamed that they had spotted the Merry, he could literally feel his heartbeat finally calming down.
However, after he frantically searched the ship and could not discover Paulie, he not only felt his heart sink into his pants. His legs threatened to give way.

When a summer day threatened to sink their brains and hair, Iceburg wanted to do his shopping. Franky insisted, however, on coming along. The older one allowed this with gritted teeth, but soon noticed that the younger one seemed to have hit rock bottom with his mood.
To cheer him up, Iceburg bought him a Coke - not realizing that this was the beginning of the end.
With the corners of his mouth twitching, he looked at his friend, who was already emptying his fifth bottle with a loud belch. A day without his Coke had to be the purest rehab for Franky.
Item 37: withdrawal

Iceburg was generally known for being able to express itself in every imaginable language.
If a traveler made it to Water Seven and couldn't communicate with the local residents, it was he who had always been able to take care of it.
With his vocabulary one could probably fill a fairly compact book - which was mainly due to the fact that, unlike the majority of the population, he was dealing with several strangers.
But he couldn't find any words to express what he felt at the moment when he had to watch Paulie's chest being pierced by his supposedly best friend.

While he rubbed the sweat from his forehead and put on a nail again, Iceburg looked down at the others and couldn't help but think wistfully of his earlier days as a carpenter. That he had really voluntarily exchanged all of this for an office ...With a grin he looked at Franky, who seemed to have the same thoughts as him.
Only now, so Iceburg found, could they claim to have really followed in Tom's footsteps, when he felt this overwhelming feeling when he looked at the finished Sunny and the probably future King of the Pirates.
