Danielle got up. Like every morning. Her mother was downstairs in the kitchen; her father in the field; her little sister was still sleeping next to her. You were poor; that was probably the reason why her parents stole on the side.
They tried to hide it from the children, probably ashamed of it, but Dany was smart enough and had found out why her parents had often just sat there depressed. Dany was only nine, her little sister Ariana five.
The family lived in the village of Kul Elna; this was just so populated by thieves. Some of them robbed caravans that passed close to the village and some even stole from the market in the nearby city of Thebes.
And no one suspected that day that the worst was imminent ...
Danielle woke Ria, who just turned around, grumbling. "Come on, get up!" Dany said and pushed her over the edge of the bed. With a scream, the younger landed on the floor. She looked up at Dany angrily.
"Did that have to be now?"
"Jaaaaaa!", Replied the black-haired cheekily.
Ria just grumbled to herself and freed herself from the thin patched blanket that had been lying over her.
"Come on, hurry up!" Laughed Dany and jumped out of bed.
The two sat down at the table and ate their breakfast like every morning, even if neither of them liked it.
"We're going to the Nile, okay?" Dany asked and her mother nodded. "Do that, but don't stay away too long!"
Both nodded in sync and jumped up at the same time.
"See you later!"
"See you later, Mommy!" Said Ria and ran after Dany.
As every day, the Nile carried its water northwards. The water shone and reflected the rays of the sun. Dany and Ria liked to go swimming here. The place was not too deep and there was no trace of dangerous animals.
So Ra wandered on and the two had completely forgotten the time.
Only when they heard noise from the village did they stop. Slowly and carefully, the two crept close enough to the village so that they could see something.
Dany caught her breath. The whole village was on fire, guards who came from the Pharaoh's palace stabbed people and began to laugh. Women, men, children ... everyone screamed in confusion; including friends of Dany and Ria. Everyone was slaughtered; there was no consideration for loss.
Suddenly the man came into view, whom Dany had never seen before, but who was always mentioned: Pharaoh Aknamkanon.
A man ran to him and fell on his knees in front of him: "My ruler, we have found everyone in the village and killed them as requested!"
The Pharaoh just nodded before turning to an old man with a gray beard: "Do we have enough souls for the ritual?"The old man nodded; but suddenly a guard called: "Hey! There are two more children!"
Dany's eyes widened. They had been discovered!
Ria whimpered; Dany turned and pulled her away. "Don't look Ria ... Come on!"
The two ran away as fast as they could, pursued by the guards. They struggled through the undergrowth on the bank, out of breath, leaving the guards behind.
Ria dropped into the sand and began to cry. "Mommy, Daddy!" She whimpered; Dany felt the same way, but she had to be strong for the little one now.
"Come on!", Dany encouraged her. "We continue!"
Ria sniffed and nodded before getting up very slowly and walking towards Thebes.
When she got to the market, Dany saw that Ria's dress was torn. Ria sniffed again and asked: "Are Mommy and Daddy still there?"
Dany smiled at her, even though she knew she was lying to Ria when she said, "Sure you are!"
She looked around. Dany had no idea what to do now. Within a few hours they had lost everything. Their parents. Your home. Her friends. They had nothing to eat, and what was worse, nothing to drink.
She sighed in despair. What to do?
But suddenly a man came up to her. "Hello my sweeties! Where are your parents?"
You could smell it, he had drunk too much beer. He came closer and closer to the two of them, gave them lustful looks and grinned dirty. Ria clung tight to Dany and whimpered in fear.
Dany wanted to run, but she knew that Ria couldn't go on anymore. The man was almost with her; he held out his hand to her, but when he touched her it flashed. Ria stared at Dany in amazement. The man was lying on the floor, unconscious.
"How did you do that?", Ria asked and looked from Dany to the man and back again.
"Y-I don't know!" Dany admitted and looked at Ria.
"Come on quickly!" Ria whispered fearfully and Dany nodded while she let Ria pull her away.
But the moment the two started walking, everything went black around them and when the surroundings got color again, both realized that they were standing in a temple.
"W-where are we now?" Dany stuttered and looked around.
But then a figure emerged from the shadows.
Dany and Ria winced when a loud, echoing voice said, "Welcome to the temple of the gods!"
Dany turned around and asked carefully: "Why are we here?"
The figure stepped further into the light and took on more and more shape. It was Osiris.
Ria pressed against her big sister in fear. "Dany!"
"Don't be afraid, my little one, we are by no means angry.", Horus smiled now, who appeared next to Osiris.
These words did not calm Ria. She only became more frightened the more gods appeared, because now Isis, Anubis and Seth were also standing in front of them.
"Why are we here?" Dany repeated softly.
"You just saw that you have magical powers!", Anubis said and looked at her closely with his deep black eyes.
"We assume that you and your sister", Horus nodded to Ria, "are angels!"
"No!", Dany shook her head, laughing in disbelief. "That can not be!"
"It is so!", Seth said loudly and Dany fell silent.
Ria and Dany looked at each other briefly. Both made the same incredulous face.
"You will stay here ... You have your home here from today; you have to take care of the rest yourself! In your rooms you will find the things you need!" Said Osiris and the gods disappeared again.
Ria and Dany stood there perplexed. "Dany, what about Mommy and Daddy?" Asked Ria; she soon seemed close to tears again.
"Ria, we'll take care of that later!" Whispered Dany. Her gaze had fallen on a room nearby. A mysterious glow rose near the door; this something in it magically attracted the girl.
"Dany!" Ria breathed fearfully.
But she stepped closer and closer to the room and entered. Then she saw him: a pitch-black rod, the star of which began to shine brighter on the tip, the closer it came.
"What is that?", Ria asked suspiciously and looked at the staff. But suddenly she called: "No Dany, don't touch that!"
But the bigger one already had the staff in her hand. Immediately the star shone with such brightness that Ria had to look away. Even Dany had to close her eyes. She felt a slight tug on her back before huge black wings appeared. The clear blue of her eyes turned purple; all of her clothes changed. Ria screams softly. "Dany!"
The one called turned around and said softly: "What the ...?"
And already it rang out again: The voice of Osiris. "I knew it!"
Dany turned back and looked the god in the face. "What?"
"You are galaxy, angel of darkness!"
Dany looked up at him; she said nothing more, seemed to be thinking more about it. It sounded so improbable to her, and yet it was she who stood with black wings next to Ria.
"We have to stay here?" She asked to Osiris. Sadness took over her thoughts. Osiris nodded curtly.
But Ria suddenly began to cry. "I don't want to stay here!" She sniffed. “I want to go to Mommy and Daddy!” Her voice grew louder and more heartbreaking.
"Ria!", Dany whispered, but the little one could not be reassured. Osiris just stood to one side and looked down at the two of them. Anger flared up inside him. How could you take their parents away from both of them?
He saw that Dany's tears were now also running down her face. Despair and sadness mingled together and provoked the same reaction as Ria's. She had long since turned back.
"Mommy!", Ria shouted in the hope that she would come straight through the door and walk towards her smiling; like she always did when Ria was sad. "Maaaamiiii!"
The little one kept screaming for her mother, but she would never answer again, let alone comfort her daughter.Dany knew this but couldn't explain it to her sister. She felt a hand on her shoulder, which made her look up. Osiris stood next to her and said softly: "Pharaoh will have to explain this to us! A punishment will not fail to appear either!"
Dany nodded; It didn’t bring her back to her parents, but she knew that whoever was responsible would be punished for it.
Ria was still sniffing; she had stopped screaming, but the tears remained. Osiris disappeared again, leaving Dany and Ria alone.
