Soul Eater

The wind whipped, blew snow into the opening of the cave and covered the group again and again. The storm was so loud that it was almost impossible to talk. “Man, this is really getting on my nerves!” Yuna shook the snow from her and got up. "Ouch." she muttered immediately, the cave was barely a meter and a half high. "Calm down, Yuni, you're not the only one who doesn't like this." Shizore growled. Yuna just snorted and stared outside. They were trapped here for two days, the supplies were slowly running out, especially since nothing was edible in the cold anyway. Cassius rolled his eyes. They all wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible. Bad enough that Shun and Yuna were fighting all the time. Especially since the gray-haired man turned into a huge wolf at night that took up almost the entire cave.
A scream broke the awkward silence. Evolet shot up from her seat, she had taken a morning nap. "What is?" Ketsoki asked and looked worriedly at the now even whiter vampire. “I had a vision.” Now she had all the attention in the cave. Evolet's visions weren't always 100% certain, but most of the time they came true. “What did you see?” Arunas looked at her with a broad grin. “I saw us fighting the dark lord's servants.” Evolet was out of breath. "And what next? Has something happened? And where were we?" Ketsoki's questions pounded on her, suddenly Evolet looked like she was centuries old. "I only saw that we were fighting them, but they were overwhelming. Then everything went black." "And where was that?" Ketsoki growled again, grabbing Evolet by the shoulders and shaking her. Evolet looked at him with large golden eyes. "I don't know, there was death and sorrow everywhere!" she exclaimed and put her hands over her face. Mimiko pushed herself between Ketsoki and Evolet and gently stroked the vampire's head. Ketsoki clapped his teeth. "I do not like it."
His gaze wandered to Shun, then to Cassius. “I'm afraid we have to go, the storm has subsided a bit.” Cassius straightened up, pulled the hood of his cloak lower over his forehead. "Then go. I think we'll take each other's hand, not that anyone else gets lost. I don't know if I'll find the trail again or if it's still there at all ..." he paused and looked skeptically into the storm . "I think we'll have to follow Shun, he has a good sense of direction." continued Cassius. Shun nodded and ran into the storm, Cassius hurriedly grabbed his coat, everyone else did the same.

Evolet brought up the rear, Ketsoki ahead of her. "I'm sorry I couldn't see where we were." called Evolet and fought against the storm. Ketsoki gripped her hand tighter. "It's okay. You can't change your gift." he called back. Then it was quiet while the group ran through the storm. Shun ran purposefully in one direction, presumably they were running in circles. But suddenly the storm subsided and the group could finally see where they were. "Does anyone know this area?" Shun asked, looking around. Cassius, on the other hand, got down on his knees and sniffed the floor. Mimiko chuckled softly. that looked strange. “The track is very weak here, but it is there, it leads towards the hill.” Cassius pointed to a ridge nearby, it was maybe two meters high and about a kilometer and a half away. Vampire eyes were something special. With every step the group took, the trail became clear, and Evolet and Shun soon smelled it too. At one point the three stopped. "This is not just one trail, there are a lot of them. Humans and the servants of the dark lord, the soulless."
Mimiko shuddered, she knew the stories of the soulless. People whose soul had been withdrawn only obeyed the dark lord, they could only be killed by hitting their hearts or removing all parts of their bodies. "Go on!" ordered Ketsoki. Hardly afterwards they stood on the top of the hill and looked into the valley and what they saw made them all falter and pale.
"That's a soul eater." Cassius breathed and Arunas nodded in agreement. There was a huge building there. It had entrances in all directions, rows of people were lined up there, old and young, men and women, children of all ages. They all went into the building. "Apparently you have to stand there on a sign and then a swirling liquid comes out that draws your soul away, then they disintegrate into dust." Mimiko's voice was out and empty. She remembered the death of her parents, how they were kidnapped rebels, knew that they too had been brought here. For a moment she was overwhelmed by grief. Then she clung to her vengeance again. The group stood still on the slope and stared down at the soul eater, they were all gripped by silent grief.
"Stand still." said a monotonous voice behind them. The group turned around suddenly.

Before them stood almost two hundred soulless. Their black armor formed such a strong contrast to the snowy white snow that it blinded the group. "Damn." Yuna cursed loudly and didn't care that the whole group winced. The soulless moved closer and circled the group. "What now?" hissed Arunas, keeping an eye on his opponents. "Well what. Fight." Evolet shouted and simply ran the troops inside, and the rest of the crowd followed shortly afterwards. Now only shots and the clang of katanas on armor could be heard. Otherwise it remained quiet for a while. The soulless, however, did not seem to be getting any less. Yuna fired one shot and hit you right in the skull, blood oozing from the wound.A few seconds later the soulless got up again. Yuna felt sick as the blood ran in streams over his concealed face and armor. "Well, you can't even kill a soulless?" Shun grinned directly at her while he just tore up a soulless. Yuna bared her teeth, suddenly she was no longer sick, but anger took possession of her. What was this dog thinking? She fired another shot, at the soulless, this time it hit and the bullet went straight to the heart. The black armor and its contents remained where it was. Shun laughed softly and urged Yuna on.
"That is hopeless!" yelled Cassius, smashing another soldier. His gaze penetrated to Ketsoki, who stabbed another. "We have to create a way for ourselves!" he yelled back. Cassius nodded and gave the others a sign so that they line up in a V-shape. Cassius was at the head. "Come on!" he roared, and with mighty blows penetrated the line of the soulless. The others followed them. Minutes later they were on the other side, with nothing behind them but a desert of ice. enough space to be able to escape. "Shun, get started, it will be dark soon!" Ketsoki shouted across to him and suspiciously watched the soulless in front of him. Seconds later they all ran after Shun, who was walking in one direction as if by magic.
"I find that kind of creepy. He walks all he knows the way." Mimiko said while jogging next to Arunas. "He's a werewolf, they have a natural warning system that tells them when a great force is around and Shun is walking towards that force." he explained and gasped for air, his legs went weak and he could barely walk. "All right, Runa? You are very pale." Mimiko looked at him worried. Arunas smiled. "No, everything is fine, only the cold is a bit of a problem for me. Could you run to Ketsoki? I think I've discovered something." Mimiko nodded and ran to Ketsoki, who let himself fall back. “You have one of those seizures again, my friend?” Kumo looked at him questioningly. Arunas nodded silently and kept on his feet with all his might. "Cassius is near a cave - it will be dark soon!" Ketsoki shouted, slowing down his pace. Cassius met his eyes for a few seconds, then lifted his head.
"500 meters south there is a small cave, it should be enough to spend the night, and the soulless ones might not find us there right away." Cassius pointed into the white nothing. "Well then." Ketsoki took Aruna's arm inconspicuously, as if he only wanted to point out something and helped him further. When they got to the cave, everyone crawled into it. "Not that close to the dog again!" hissed Yuna and tossed her blue hair from her face. Shun glared at her. "Very funny thief." he hissed back. For a moment there was so great tension in the cave that it could have been cut. "Now travel together!" Evolet growled and pushed them apart. Shizore sighed and shook her head. "and how is it going to be in the future?" she asked. Ketsoki shrugged. "No idea. But we have to hurry. Soon Lord Avadoor will own the entire land and then our plan will be impossible." "Do you have any idea where the stone is?" asked Cassius. "It is said that he is lying on a mountain, called Bormo, after a god of light from the early days. The stone should lie there on the summit." "Then the dark lord must already have it." Evolet said and her look was disappointed for a moment. Ketsoki shook his head vigorously. "The dark lord doesn't even dare to get to this stone for fifty kilometers. Rumor has it that the stone has already destroyed 2000 soulless and hundreds of Avadoor's men. The heel, however, is that nobody knows where this mountain is , others in the middle. Perhaps it is somewhere else entirely. "
There was silence in the cave. "That means we are totally delivered." said Yuna. "Let's see." answered her Shun, then it was quiet again until you heard a faint snore. Shun turned into a wolf and the vampires quietly began to play some games. "Hopefully we will find the Stone of Light." Ketsoki grumbled before he retreated to the opening of the cave and went to sleep there.
