How it all began

Fall 2005

It is a golden autumn, the leaves are beginning to fall to the ground and surrender to winter. I remember exactly, that day was still relatively warm. A warm Friday, a perfect start for the autumn break. My friends and I were standing in the playground, we were talking, but as always I had a book in hand and was trying to unhook it a little.

Our clique:
• Susi - a funny person who gets along with everyone.
• Carina - A cheeky person who always speaks their mind.
• Alice - A person who is still looking for himself, funny, bitchy, changeable (especially the hair color).
• And me: Jessica - a person with a mystical disposition, quiet, thinks his part, bookworm, bitchy.

I was totally immersed in the book ... until I heard a word that our fate was going to change completely.

SUSI: "Have you ever heard of the back of glasses?"

CARINA: "Nah what is that?" She asked Alice.

ALICE: "I don't know."

JESSICA: "It's a game in which you summon ghosts.", She said and closed her book.

SUSI: "Yes, exactly. I saw X-Factor yesterday and some of them conjured up a ghost and in the end it turned out to be a true story."

CARINA: "Cool. Does it really work that way?"

SUSI: "Let's just try it out."

JESSICA: "For that we need a witch's board."

CARINA: "Do you know what it looks like, Jessica?"

JESSICA: "Of course I know that," she said seriously.

CARINA: "Well, let's make one, we'll have art for the next lesson anyway."

SUSI: "That's a good idea, Carina."

Before long we were back in our classroom. Everyone spoke so loudly that his own word could get lost in it and no one noticed our little teacher, Mrs. Küpper, who was just entering the room (how should you, given the size?).

FR. KÜPPER: "FINALLY BE SILENT!" She shouted.

Her skin was on the table, which was clearly bigger than herself. When everyone noticed her and finally arrived quietly, she began to speak.

FR. KÜPPER: "Good morning, children. In today's art lesson you can let your creativity run free. It's just before the holidays and you can take your work home with you."

Everyone got the things they needed to paint and sat together in groups. We did the same.

SUSI: "Okay, then explain what we should paint on it.", She said to Jessica.

JESSICA: "Everyone takes a sheet of paper from the painting pad, then we glue them together and just paint letters and numbers on it. That's it."

ALICE: "Good, then everyone works on a page."

CARINA: "Yes, and everyone writes their name on one side so that we can later know who did it.", She said with a smile.

Everyone nodded and went to work. The lesson went by faster than expected, but our "work of art" was still finished and it looked good. The last hour was like chewing gum on the sole of the shoe, but finally the long-awaited vacation had arrived. Together we walked a bit, like every time, and we talked about where the necromancy should take place.

SUSI: "Well, it would be bad for me, my room is too small."

CARINA: "For me too, my mother wouldn't want it if so many are with us."

ALICE: "It would be fine with me, my room is big enough."

JESSICA: "Best do it with me."

ALICE: "Your room is way too small for that."

JESSICA: "I'm not saying that we will do it in my room, but in our basement."

ALICE: "Right, you have a party room down there, that would of course be perfect."

JESSICA: "I suggest that you come to me tomorrow evening and we conjure up the spirit."

SUSI: "But why don't we do it tomorrow at noon, it's Saturday after all."

JESSICA: "That's obvious. Because it's scarier in the evening than at noon, that's why. Best come to me around 6pm."

Jessica grabbed the "work of art" and turned to leave.

JESSICA: "Oh and one more thing. Don't be haunted in your sleep.", She said in a shuddering tone and left.

CARINA: "Sometimes I really think she doesn't have all of them anymore."

Susi and Alice nod in agreement as they looked after their friend
